Warmingham Wakes; Home

Welcome Everyone,

Preparations are now well underway for the 2010 Warmingham Wakes. This years event is promising to be as fun packed as usual, with lots of traditional fun and games– something for all the family.

For anyone who hasn’t previously visited Warmingham Wakes, let me give you a little taster.

Warmingham Wakes is held annually on the first Saturday in May,  (this year being the 1st May at 2PM) and is held next to the River Wheelock, in the beautiful gardens of Church House Farm, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Richardson.

Warmingham Wakes is a wonderful fete, with lots of traditional stalls, such as the Coconut Shy, Key In A Box, Pull A String, White Elephant, Name The Calf, Cake Stall, Plant Stall and  Fresh Produce Stall, to name but a few.

The Wakes is opened with the crowning of the new Warmingham Wakes Queen, who will, with her attendants represent Warmingham for the following twelve months.

Congratulations to this years lucky montage!

During the afternoon, you and your family will enjoy a maypole dancing display, by some of the children who attend Warmingham CofE Primary School, and a dog show which is open to all those posh and not so posh dogs out there!

Entries are accepeted on the day, so why not bring Rover along for a bit of fun too (but please remember to bring that poop bag!)

Perhaps Warmingham Wakes is most famous for our Duck Race. Visitors may buy a numbered duck for the afternoon, which is let loose along with all his fellow plastic friends in the River Wheelock. The first duck who floats through the finish wins their owner an impressive £100, 2nd £50 and 3rd £20.

Also NEW for 2010! A fancy dress competition for all children 10Yrs & Under!

Come and along and have FUN, FUN, FUN!!
